Sesame Street's Bert and Ernie call it quits. Ernie starts talking.

After over four decades of living together on Sesame Street, Bert and Ernie will now be going their separate ways. The fallout came yesterday morning when Bert claimed that his car wasn't starting before he was about to go job searching in the city.

Although Bert was not taking any interviews, Ernie was making the media stint on all the major networks. "All Bert does is make excuses why he can't find work and it's getting a wee bit old", he said on Good Morning America.
"I've been supporting the two of us since this recession hit almost 3 years ago and am working two full-time jobs. I come home everyday and it's the same thing over and over. He's playing with paper clips and cooking another pot of oatmeal for those dang pigeons. What do you do for me Bert?"

The accusations didn't stop there however. While on David Letterman, Ernie started to open up about their relationship and whether there was any truth to them being gay. "Well, what do you think Dave? Did you ever wonder why we only had a bathtub? You think I was sticking around because of his personality? I wanted to tie the knot years ago and now with all these online petitions for us to get married...it's just real tough ok."

When asked this afternoon by Anderson Cooper of CNN whether or not it will be him or Bert packing their bags, Ernie quickly responded, "I'm taking a pair of jeans and my rubber ducky and am Greyhounding it to San Francisco."
